Available on millions of handsets worldwide, OZ Mobile IM Clients offer users a rich and always-on IM experience on affordable mass-market mobile devices. OZ's branded user interface (UI) can reflect the operator owned mobile IM community or the most popular Internet IM services.
OZ has developed a vast portfolio of mobile IM clients that are the product of our unmatched expertise and understanding of handset technology. OZ designs its clients to maximize new handset capabilities, and to overcome their limitations by leveraging the latest technologies. The end result is a well integrated client with optimum usability for end-users, and the most efficient client application for handset manufacturers and wireless operators. To date, OZ has distributed over 85 million IM clients on over 300 different handset models.
OZ Mobile IM Clients provide end-users with an "always-on" mobile IM experience, and support multiple network bearers which ensure network efficiency. The OZ Mobile IM Clients are also compliant to OMA IMPS specifications and can be customized to mobile operators' and handset manufacturers' specific device offerings. OZ Mobile IM clients are available for J2ME®, BREW®, RIM®, Doja, Symbian, Palm OS, and Windows Mobile®.
Portal Community Services
OZ provides Portal Certified IM clients for wireless operators who wish to mobilize popular Instant Messaging applications. These portal based clients are defined by the portal communities (Windows Live® Messenger, Yahoo Messenger®, AOL Instant Messenger®, and ICQ®), and are designed to emulate the PC experience. OZ clients are developed to meet the continuously evolving and operator requirement; which would be otherwise difficult to achieve and port to multiple devices with native device code.
Operator Community Services
OZ Mobile IM Clients can also be customized to support operator branded mobile IM communities. Unlike portal based clients, which are largely influenced by portal requirements, operator branded IMPS clients can be customized to leverage the full feature set of OMA IMPS specifications. However, these clients also require customization to each mobile operator's unique requirements and branding. The ability to customize key features, as well as the "look and feel" of the client allows handset manufacturers to fulfill operator requirements while still maintaining an integrated experience on the device for this core application. The OZ embedded client can be further customized to differentiate the application, opposed to handsets that have a pre-loaded operator application.
The OZ Mobile IM Clients are designed to be simple and effective. They provide end-users with an easy-to-use and feature-rich environment to initiate communication with contacts from a dynamic contact list. Initiating communication with another user is as simple as selecting a contact and choosing a communication method.
Contact List Management
The contact list gives end-users an overview of the availability of their contacts with graphical icons. Managing contacts is straight-forward with the OZ Mobile IM Client, and full portal contact lists are supported. Users can easily search, add, remove and change preferences for individual contacts (e.g. blocking selected contacts), as well as group contacts under different headings (e.g., Friends, Family, etc.).
Presence Management
End-users can both control how their own presence information is shared with other users, and gain access to other users' presence information as it is made available to them. Configuration settings in the client simplify end-user's management of their presence information for tasks such as accepting or declining requests to view their presence.
IM Forwarding
Consumers are constantly on the move. With IM Forwarding, subscribers can effortlessly log-in to their mobile IM Session when leaving their active PC-based IM session and seamlessly, as well as automatically, continue their IM chats while on-the-go.
Multimedia Messaging
The OZ Mobile IM Clients support multimedia messaging (e.g.: Picture IM) for those servers which support this feature. Subscribers can send or receive pictures that are taken with the handset while messaging, or send or receive ones that were previously stored within the device.
Conversation Management
The OZ Mobile IM Clients support a unique interface that manages multiple active conversations without leaving the main conversation screen. Using a tabbed interface, the end-user can differentiate all active conversations by contact name. This spares the user of having to navigate multiple screens to switch conversations.
Multiple Community Log-in
As consumer increasingly use multiple portals simultaneously for Instant Messaging, the OZ Mobile IM Clients support multiple IM providers simultaneously. This feature can increase usage and end-user satisfaction.
Branding and Localization
The Client supports multiple branding and configuration settings. This enables wireless operators to offer their subscribers access to more than one IM service using the same client - a tremendous value in support and deployment. OZ Mobile IM Clients support branding for AOL®, Windows Live® Messenger, Yahoo®, and ICQ®. The OZ Client can also dynamically adjust its language selection settings and interface based on handset language preferences.
Dynamic Switching Between Multiple Bearers
Depending on network availability, the Client can dynamically switch between multiple bearer methods (configurable), thereby optimizing network capacity based on the varying requirements of different operators.
Optimized User Interface
The user interface of the OZ Mobile IM Client is optimized for the mobile handset screen size, ensuring easy navigation by the end-user. The user interface and icons are easily customizable to suit any handset manufacturer's and wireless operator's requirements.
Always-On
The OZ Mobile IM Clients can remain active (running in Background Mode) while the handset attends to other functions like a phone call. While in the background, the Client keeps the contact list up to date and notifies the end-user of incoming messages. When the Client receives an incoming message, the user is notified immediately, then they can return to the application and read/respond to the new message.
The OZ Mobile IM Clients can be integrated into a handset in such a way that it becomes an integral element of the handset itself. If embedded onto a device, all integration options are available.
Some of the integration options include:
- Privileged menu placement
- Branding and Localization
- Automatic Service Launch
- Utilize handset capabilities with full background mode
- Multiple Community Interface
- Branded alerts
- Advanced incoming message filtering
- Unread message and presence status indicators on idle screen
- Phone book integration
- Remote management Over-the-Air (OTA)
